How the Calculations Work
Age calculation is deceptively complex. A naive implementation subtracts years and stops there — but that misses leap years, month-length variations, and timezone edge cases that can shift your result by a full day. Every calculator on MyAgeCalc follows this methodology:
- Leap Year Accounting: Correctly handles leap years (divisible by 4, except centuries unless divisible by 400) — including February 29th birthdays.
- Month Length Variations: Accounts for months with 28, 29, 30, and 31 days rather than assuming a fixed average.
- Exact Day Counting: Calculates precise days lived, not approximations based on 365.25-day years.
- Time Zone Awareness: Respects the user's local time zone so the result matches the calendar date they actually experience.
- Edge Case Handling: Special cases like February 29th birthdays in non-leap years are handled consistently and transparently.

Hi, I'm Anil Peter, a software developer based in India.
I've been building web applications professionally since 2019, with a focus on developer tools, performance, and user experience. I started MyAgeCalc in 2024 because every age calculator I found was either inaccurate with edge cases, cluttered with ads, or sent data to a server. I built the version I wanted to use myself — fast, accurate, and fully client-side.
The site has grown organically through Product Hunt, Reddit, and word of mouth. I maintain it as an independent project and continue adding tools based on what users ask for.
